TEAM NOTES

LET THE PARTY BEGIN: The Liberty opened its 10th Anniversary season in Connecticut on Saturday ... The team was one of eight charter members of the WNBA back in 1997, along with Charlotte, Cleveland, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Sacramento and Utah ... Among those original members, the Cleveland Rockers disbanded and the Utah Starzz re-located to San Antonio and became the Silver Stars ... Therefore, the Liberty is one of just six teams currently in the WNBA to be celebrating its own 10th Anniversary along with the league's in 2006.

MIGHT AS WELL BE WALKING ON THE SUN: Despite the team's less-than-favorable performance against Connecticut on Saturday, Shameka Christon's performance was a bright spot on the day ... The third-year forward tied two career highs and broke two others ... Her four three-point goals and six defensive rebounds both tied her previous bests, while her eight three-point attempts and eight total boards are new personal highs.
