THE HILLCATS: Last night, the Hillcats beat the Wilmington Blue Rocks 6-0...RHP Aaron Shafer pitched seven scoreless frames en route to his second win...The ‘Cats took the lead in the second inning and never looked back, eventually adding five insurance runs between the seventh and ninth innings RHP Eliecer Cardenas and LHP Ryan Buchter pitched the eighth and ninth respectively for Lynchburg, helping complete the shutout...With the win, the Hillcats are now 1-2 in the second half, currently tied for second place in the Northern Division with the Frederick Keys and the Potomac Nationals, one game back of the first place Wilmington Blue Rocks...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: The Hillcats are 3-4 against the Dash this season...The home team is 5-2 in the season series...Winston-Salem took the season series 16-4 against the Hillcats in 2010...The Dash have outscored the ‘Cats by six (32-26)...However, the Hill-City has welcomed a new affiliate in the Atlanta Braves this year...Last season the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (2010 Braves Advance-A affiliate) nearly split the season series with the Dash taking nine games of 20...

TO SHUTOUT, OR GET SHUTOUT: Lynchburg has now been a part of 11 shutouts this season...Their 6-5 record in those contests is good for second in the league, behind the Myrtle Beach Pelicans who boast an 8-1 shutout record...Only one of the Hillcats' six shutouts have been completed by their starter (Zeke Spruill @ KIN May 16)...Three have come at the expense of the Kinston Indians...

STARTING FRESH: Hillcats starters posted a 4.17 ERA and a losing record of 21-28 in the first half...Through three games in the second half, the rotation has only allowed three runs, all earned, through 18 innings, good for a 1.50 ERA, and are 1-0...The rotation to start the second half has three new faces in RHP Aaron Shafer (free agent signing), LHP Blaine Sims (Low-A Rome call-up), and LHP Chris Masters (started season in Lynchburg bullpen)...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes C Christian Bethancourt (12), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

JACKPOT, 7-7-7: RHP Aaron Shafer has tossed seven innings in each of his last three outings including last night's seven scoreless...He's now 2-0 with a 1.48 ERA since signing as a minor league free agent with the Braves on June 1...He has now made five appearances, four starts, for Lynchburg...The team is 4-1 when he pitches...Shafer is one of four active pitchers on the Hillcats roster to be signed as free agents this season...Matthew Frevert (STL) and Jeremy Haynes (LAA) were released earlier this season, and Andrew Russell was playing professionally in Australia last season...

ON A HEATER: OF Keenan Wiley (8) and OF Adam Milligan (9) both continued hitting streaks from the first half last night...Wiley is 11-for-33 during his streak, and has brought his average from .291 to .300...His average sat at .300 or better from May 5 - June 7 this season...The eight-game streak is a season-high for Wiley...Milligan is 12-for-35 over his past nine, currently hitting .283 on the season...His current nine-game hitting streak surpassed his previous season-high of eight games, which he originally set in his first eight contests of the season...

DOUBLE DOWN: INF Joey Terdoslavich went 2-for-4 last night with two doubles and now leads the league with 26...He was honored as the Carolina League Player of the Month for May as voted by the league's managers...Terdoslavich hit .304 (31-for-102) with four home runs and 20 RBI in 27 games last month...He racked up 11 doubles in May...His average went from .243 to .279 during the month...The honor was the first weekly or monthly award of his career...So far in June, he is hitting just .232 with one home run, and six RBI in 22 games, dropping his season clip to down to .260...However, his doubles numbers are remaining steady, with 11 already matching his May total...He is second in the league home runs with 12...Of his 67 hits on the season, 39 (tied for most in the league) have gone for extra bases...

SCORELESS SPRUILL: RHP Zeke Spruill snapped a 19.2 scoreless innings streak last night allowing a run in the fifth...Not only is that the longest streak this season for a Hillcat, but it's the longest since 2006, when LHP Greg Martin tossed 22 consecutive blank frames for the ‘Cats...

228 AT-BATS LATER: INF Phil Gosselin homered in his eighth at-bat of the season, April 10 in Potomac...He was the first Hillcat to go deep in 2011...He went his next 228 at-bats with out a home run, before launching a three-run shot Friday June 17 off Kinston reliever Francisco Jimenez in the sixth inning...In between home runs he had 62 hits, including 16 doubles, and a team leading five triples...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP Joe Serafin was selected in the 37th round of the 2009 draft by the White Sox out of the University of Vermont...Split time in 2010 between low-A Kannapolis and Winston-Salem...Was a mid-season All Star for Kannapolis...Was 7-5 with a 3.47 ERA in Kannapolis, and 3-4 with a 5.63 ERA in Winston Salem in 2010...Was American East Pitcher of the Year in 2008 with the University of Vermont...Currently 0-6 with a 6.13 ERA...
