THE HILLCATS: Wednesday, the Hillcats mounted another late comeback eventually winning 9-7 in 11 innings, over the Red Sox in Salem...Lynchburg initially went ahead 1-0, but the lead would change hands four times before it was over...The 'Cats scored one in the ninth to force extras, and three in the 11th to take the lead and ultimately the win...The Hillcats sit in third place in the Carolina League Northern Division, now 6.5 games back of the first place Frederick Keys...

VS. SALEM: The Hillcats are 2-7 against the Red Sox this season...The two teams have met seven times in Salem and twice in Lynchburg...The Red Sox won the first seven match-ups of the year, but the 'Cats have pulled out the last two with late inning come backs...Last season, the Red Sox took the season series 11-8 over Lynchburg...Myrtle Beach (2010 Braves Advanced-A affiliate) fared worse against Salem, winning just five of the 20 match-ups...

ROAD WARRIORS: Lynchburg had their most successful road trip of the season this past week finishing 6-1 after traveling to Potomac for four games, and then to Salem for three more...The lone loss was suffered Monday afternoon in Salem, when Red Sox catcher Dan Butler hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Hillcats 7-6...The 'Cats swept the Nationals in Potomac over the weekend...It was their first sweep of the season, and first four-game winning streak all year...Now 16-15, Lynchburg boasts a winning record on the road...

THE 'CATS CAN BAT: As a team the Hillcats went 14-for-48 (.292) Wednesday night...Lynchburg is now hitting .266 on the season, 10 points higher than the next best clip (Myrtle Beach, .256)...The 'Cats are second in home runs (41), after hitting three last night, second in doubles (104), first in triples (17), and not surprisingly they lead the league in slugging percentage at .418...They also boast the fewest strikeouts (340)....

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Seven members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

SHAWN Mc'GONE': C Shawn McGill went deep twice last night for his second and third home runs of the season with the Hillcats...It was his second multi-home run game of his career (7/20/08 w/ Lincoln) and first in affiliated baseball...His first tape-measure shot broke up a a 0-0 tie in the third, and his second put the 'Cats up 7-6 in the 11th...McGill has now hit safely in 10 of 13 games this season with Lynchburg and is hitting .313 (15-for-48), with three home runs and nine RBI...

CAVALIER IN THE CLUTCH: INF Phil Gosselin went 2-for-5 last night driving in three runs for the Hillcats...His first RBI tied the game with two outs in the top of the ninth, which forced extra innings...The next two came with two outs in the 11th, and would prove to be the game winning runs, and the 'Cats held on to 9-7...Gosselin also drove in the go-ahead run Monday afternoon in Salem in the 9th inning, but the Hillcats wen on to blow that lead in the bottom of the frame...Against Salem the past three days, Gosselin went 5-for-13 with six RBI, four runs scored, a double, and his fifth triple of the season (third-most in the league)...He's now hit safely in 10 of his past 11 games and has an RBI in eight of the 11...Batting .439 (18-for-41), he has raised his batting average from .234 to .279, his highest mark of the season...

WHAT A TRIP: INF Joey Terdoslavich has 14 multi-hit games this season, and five came over Hillcats' seven-game road trip this past week...After going 1-for-6 yesterday a run scored, he finished the trip 12-for-28 (.429) with a home run and six runs driven in...Hitting safely in 10 of his last 11 now, he has raised his batting average from .246 to .275...He hit .304 (31-for-102) in May after hitting .243 (17-for-70) in April...

BACK WITH A VENGEANCE: OF Adam Milligan was hitting just .224 (19-for-85) before hitting the disabled list with a pulled hamstring, which he injured on May 7...Since returning to action May 18, he's hitting .357 (20-for-56)...He has a hit in 12 of 15 games since coming back, with seven multi-hit games...Has driven in 14 runs, scored 11, and hit three home runs in those 15 contests...Those 14 RBI more than doubled his season total, as he had driven in just 10 in his first 23 games of the season...He now has eight long balls on the year, tied for fifth most in the League...His batting average has risen by .53 points to .277 (39-for-141)...Had his first two-walk game Monday, he's drawn seven free passes since coming back, after having just two before the injury...His on-base percentage has gone from .247 to .331...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER : RHP Ryan Pressly was selected in the 11th round of the 2007 draft by the Red Sox out of Marcus (TX) High School...Was seventh among Red Sox minor league pitchers with a 3.72 ERA in 2010...Held opponents to three runs or less in 22 of his 24 starts for Greenville in 2010...His 24 starts was tied for second on the team...Pitched for Lowell in 2009, and tied for first on the team in strikeouts (64) and tied for second in wins (six)...Has started twice against Lynchburg, on 4/13 and 4/18...Won both games, giving up six runs, three earned, in 10 and two-thirds innings pitched...Currently 3-4 with a 4.75 ERA...
