THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg fell 11-6 in the final game of a three-game series with Potomac yesterday at City Stadium...The Hillcats still won two out of three in the set and have now won two straight series after failing to win any of their first five...The Cats enter this series with the K-Tribe 6-1 in series openers and 1-6 in finales...Tonight the Hillcats continue a 10-game homestand with the first game of their four-game series against Kinston...The Cats enter today three games back of first place Frederick in the Northern Division...

VS. KINSTON: Lynchburg is 2-1 against Kinston this season after taking two out of three from the K-Tribe last week at Grainger Stadium...The Hillcats went 10-10 versus the Indians in 2009 and were 6-4 at Grainger Stadium...After starting 8-4 against the K-Tribe, the Cats lost six of the final eight games between the two...Lynchburg is 150-148 all-time against the Indians and 68-84 in Kinston...

BACK WITH A BANG: The Hillcats returned home after a 13-game road swing last night and won the first two games of this series by a combined score of 15-4 over the Nationals...In the three game series they scored a combined 21 runs on 37 hits...Lynchburg batted .352 (37-for-105) in the set with 12 extra-base hits and a hit .462 (12-for-26) with men in scoring position...They started Friday night's game with their biggest offensive inning of the season...Lynchburg had a season-high six runs and a season best seven hits in the inning...It was also the first time this season they have batted around in a frame...

STRIVING FOR PERFECTION: The Hillcats defense did not commit an error in the 11-6 loss to the Nationals...It marked the seventh straight game the Cats did not make an error...To start the season Lynchburg had 21 errors through their first 13 games, which was at the time the most in the Carolina League and their .956 fielding percentage was last as well...Since they committed a season-high four errors on April 21 to give them at least one error in ten straight games and in 12 of their first 13, the Hillcats have just two errors in their last ten games played...Their 23 errors are tied for the second fewest in the CL and their .973 fielding percentage is tied for second in the circuit as well...

NOT SPELLING RELIEF: Yesterday the Hillcats bullpen allowed eight runs in four innings of action and got saddled with their eighth loss of the season...The bullpens earned run average is now at 6.64 and they have walked 45 batters in 78 and 2/3 innings of action...The Cats pen has four different pitchers with an ERA over eight (three of which are over 12), and only two relievers have an ERA under four...

FINDING HIS FEET: OF Byron Wiley went 2-for-4 yesterday in his second game as a Hillcat...This after an 0-for-4 performance with four strike outs in his first game as a Cat on Saturday night...Though he only batted .209 in 19 games with Dayton, Wiley had hit .273 (12-for-44) since a 2-for-23 (.087) start to the season and he had hit in five straight prior to his first game in Lynchburg...

SWATTING SOTO: UTIL Neftali Soto went 3-for-5 yesterday with a double, an RBI and two runs scored...On Saturday night he went 4-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored...It was the first four-hit game of the season by a Hillcat, the first multi-homer game and it matched the most RBI and runs scored by a Cat in a game this year...In the series against Potomac, Soto went a combined 8-for-13 (.615) with a double, two homers, six RBI and six runs scored...He entered the last two games of the series with just one home run and four extra-base hits on the season...

DO IT ALL DEVIN: C Devin Mesoraco went 1-for-3 last night with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored...His homer yesterday was his team leading sixth of the season and he is now tied for third in the Carolina League...He also leads the team with 17 RBI...On Thursday night at Kinston he laid down his first bunt single of the season and stole his first two bags of the campaign...He did not steal a base all of last year...Yesterday he threw out both runners that attempted to steal to improve his caught stealing percentage up to 42% (5-for-12) on the season...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP T.J. House was selected in the 16th round of the 2008 draft out of high school in Mississippi...Last season he made his professional debut with full season Low-A Lake County and he went 6-11 with a 3.15 with 26 starts...This season he progressed to Advanced-A Kinston and he has gone 0-2 with a 2.84 ERA in four starts...He is the 12th ranked prospect in the Indians minor league system according to Baseball America...His last start was against Lynchburg, he went five innings, gave up one run and took a no-decision in a game the Indians rallied to win 5-3 at Grainger Stadium...
