
Soto Homers Again, Boxberger Shines in Cats Win

Neftali Soto hit his third home run of the home stand and Brad Boxberger threw six scoreless innings as the Hillcats took the opener from Kinston, 4-1.
Lynchburg got on the board first with two runs in the second inning. Kinston starter T.J. House retired the first two Hillcats to the plate before Chris McMurray reached on a single. Miguel Rojas followed with a single as well. A wild pitch moved up the runners before Justin Reed walked. McMurray scored on a passed ball. After Josh Fellhauer walked, Cody Puckett singled in the second Lynchburg run.
Soto's home run in the seventh inning made it 3-0 Lynchburg.
The Hillcats scored again in the eighth. Rojas and Justin Reed each singled with one out. Reed's single was a hit-and-run that moved Rojas to third. Fellhauer drove home Rojas with a groundout to short with the infield in.
Brad Boxberger had his best start of the young season. He threw six scoreless innings and gave up five hits while striking out three. He gets the win and moves to 3-1 on the season. Nick Christiani made his Hillcats debut ad tossed two scoreless innings in relief. He struck out one.
The Hillcats have won three of four on the current home stand and five of the team's last seven including the series win at Kinston last week.
Lynchburg continues the 4-game series with Kinston tomorrow night at 6:05. Fans can take advantage of the ABC 13 Dollar Menu. Hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, peanuts, chips and candy cost only one dollar. Righty Mark Serrano pitches for the Hillcats (2-0, 3.94 ERA) to the mound against Kinston's right hander Alexander Perez (0-1, 6.00 ERA).
