THE HILLCATS...continue a season-ending, week-long road trip with the third of four games against the streaking Potomac Nationals...Were limited offensively by a trio of Nationals hurlers in a 5-1 setback last night...Are winless in six games at Pfitzner Stadium this year...Have lost eight straight games...Have lost eight straight games on three occasions this year...Are 1-12 in their last 13 contests...Are just 27-54 (.333) in their last 81 games...

THE NATIONALS...Have won a season-high nine consecutive games...Have allowed a total of 20 runs over that stretch...Are also 14-4 (.778) in their last 18 games...Still, can be eliminated from post-season contention with either a loss or a Wilmington victory over Salem tonight...Have belted the 2nd-most home runs (117) in the league...Are hitting an impressive .284 as team in August while posting a collective 3.53 team ERA over that span...

2007 vs. POTOMAC: Potomac has won seven consecutive games in the season set and leads the season series overall, 12 games to 5...Potomac captured the 2006 season series, 12 games to 8...Overall, the Hillcats have an edge in the lifetime series 133-124 (.518) and have gone 60-63 (.488) in 123 all-time games at Pfitzner Stadium...

ALL-STARS: 2B Shelby Ford and OF Brad Corley were both named to the Carolina League's ceremonial All-Star team today...Ford, who has been kept out of the lineup since late July with a back injury, hit .281-5-55 in 94 games... Corley was hitting .285 with 14 homers and a league-best 89 RBIs prior to his promotion to Altoona on Monday...
