Einertson named Carolina League MVP

Greensboro, NC-The Carolina League has announced its Postseason All-Stars and Salem outfielder Mitch Einertson has been named the league's Most Valuable Player. In his first year in the loop, Einertson holds a .313 batting average to stand atop the league.

"I think he's very deserving," Salem Manager Jim Pankovits said of Einertson. "He's had a really consistent season from the middle of May on. He's been our most productive hitter for a high average and driving in runs."

The Oceanside, California native hit .400 in May and was named the Topps Carolina League Player of the Month. Since April, Einertson has posted at least 15 RBI in each month to jump to second in the league with 85 total.

"Most of all, this is a tough league to break into," Pankovits said. Once he finally got his feet wet and the injury to Eli Iorg afforded him more steady playing time, he relaxed and gained confidence."

In addition to being the league's Most Valuable Player, the managers, general managers and media voted Einertson to the Postseason All-Star Team.

Einertson leads the Avalanche with 42 multi-hit games including a pair of four-hit efforts. He's also totaled five RBI twice this season.

After being selected in the fifth round of the 2004 draft, Einertson paced the Appalachian League with 24 home runs while hitting .308 with the Greeneville Astros. He spent both 2005 and 2006 with Low-A Lexington.
