TONIGHT'S GAME:

The Hillcats concludes an eight-game road trip with the final of four games against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Coastal Federal Field...Last night, Lynchburg split a doubleheader by garnering a nightcap win, 6-2...The Pelicans won the opener 7-6 with a walk-off suicide squeeze...With the split, the Cats now lead the Potomac Nationals by 1.0-game for first place in the Northern Division...Interestingly, all four Northern Division squads are seperated by a total of 3.5-games in the standings ... Currently, every team in the division posts a losing record...The only time a team advanced to the CL post-season without an above .500 record was in 1985...The Winston-Salem Spirits captured the Southern Division first-half crown with a record of 35-35...Lynchburg is in the midst of playing 15 of their last 19 games in the first half on the road...They are 4-3 to begin that stretch...In addition, all 19 games are against Southern Division squads...The Cats enter tonight's game with a 5-8 mark in series finales...

TONIGHT'S OPPONENT

- Villa, 20, is a 5-10, 160-pound left-hander signed by Atlanta as a non-drafted free agent on 11/8/02. The Dominican Republic native enters tonight's contest with the 3rd best ERA (1.71) in the Carolina League among qualifying pitchers. The youngster went just 2-10 with a 5.13 ERA (100.0 ip, 112 h, 65 r, 57 er, 48 bb, 78 k) last year with Myrtle Beach. HE ranked third among Braves minor league relievers with a 1.93 ERA in 2004 with Danville (A, Appy). For the campaign, he went 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA (42.0 ip, 35 h, 15 r, 9 er, 21 bb, 41 k). In his first professional season, he was named co-Pitcher of the Year for the Braves Dominican Summer League team.

The Hillcats have gone 10-5 in their last 15 games...They have scored 94 runs (6.3/game) over that stretch...Monday's 14-inning victory was the longest Hillcats game since 6/22/04 versus Kinston...That contest lasted 15 frames, and was won by the Cats 6-5...The longest game in Hillcats history was an 18-inning marathon against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 1999...INF Brian Bixler became the first Hillcats player to amass two HRs in a game on Monday...He has hit three long balls in the series after hitting two in his first 52 games played...The Pittsburgh Pirates selected RHP Brad Lincoln with their first selection in the amateur draft...Lincoln, 21, went 12- 2 with a 1.69 ERA (127.2ip/24er) in 17 starts this season as a junior with the University of Houston while striking out 151 batters...
