Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
The Lynchburg Hillcats evened up the series with the Salem Red Sox Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 victory. Then the rains came prior to the sixth inning to dampen the mood at Bark at the Park Day at City Stadium. Sicnarf Loopstok's RBI groundout in the second proved to be the difference. After thirty minutes of waiting the game was called.
RIGHT-HANDER RETURNS
Hillcats ace, Julian Merryweather was impressive in his return from the Disabled List. Merryweather scattered three hits across four scoreless innings while fanning four batters. He picked up his seventh win of the season which ties him for the Carolina League lead while lowering his ERA to 0.92. Antonio Romero finished off what Merryweather started by tossing a perfect fifth inning to earn his first save of the season.
LOOPSTOK DELIVERS DECIDING RUN
The Hillcats began the second inning with back-to-back hits from Bobby Bradley and Yu-Cheng Chang. With runners on the corners and nobody out, Sicnarf Loopstok stepped up to the plate. Loopstok chopped the second pitch he saw to shortstop, Mauricio Dubon to score Bradley from third base. The run would hold up as the game was called after five innings due to rain.
