WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wilmington Blue Rocks broke a ninth-inning tie with four runs to earn a 6-2 victory in the completion of Saturday's suspended game at BB&T Ballpark.

Rain forced a suspension in the eighth inning Saturday, with the game tied at 2-2. After the Dash (21-35) stranded a runner in scoring position in the eighth to begin Sunday's activities, Wilmington (19-34) sent eight men to the plate against Manny Martinez (1-3). Carlos Franco kicked off the frame with a double, and he scored two batters later on an Austin Bailey triple to give the Blue Rocks the lead for good.

However, Wilmington was not done in the ninth. Robert Pehl plopped a bloop RBI single to center. Following a walk, nine-hole hitting catcher Chad Johnson snuck a two-run triple inside the right field line to cap the scoring.

In the bottom of the ninth, Toby Thomas doubled, and Chris O'Dowd singled to bring the tying run on deck. However, Jake Kalish induced a game-ending double play to clinch the win in the opener of this four-game series.

The Dash jumped out to a 2-0 advantage on Saturday night thanks to a Keon Barnum RBI groundout and a wild pitch to score Michael Suiter. Wilmington evened the contest in the third on a Joshua Banuelos two-run home run against Jordan Stephens, who otherwise held the Blue Crew off the scoreboard during his 6.1-inning start.

Winston-Salem did have a chance to reclaim the lead in the seventh with men at first and third and one out. However, Louie Lechich lined out, and Cleuluis Rondon grounded out. Had the Dash scored in that inning, they would have won the game in a rain-shortened fashion on Saturday.

Sunday's regularly-scheduled game will begin at approximately 2:05 p.m., and it will be a nine-inning contest. Spencer Adams (5-3, 3.88 ERA) toes the rubber for Winston-Salem against fellow right-hander Corey Ray (1-1, 4.63 ERA). Fans can watch this game live on WMYV-TV (My 48) in Winston-Salem or listen on wsdash.com/broadcast or the TuneIn Radio App.
