Clinton starter John Bannister held the Bees to one unearned run on five hits and a pair of walks in 5.2 innings, fanning six and recording nine ground ball outs along the way before Kevin Altman delivered two scoreless frames in relief, fanning four to lead the LumberKings to an opening day win at Alliant Energy Field.
Catcher Kevin Richardson tripled in a 2-4 effort to drive in three runs and University of Illinois alum Brandon Cashman belted a solo shot for his only hit in four trips. Shortstop Adam Fox drove in a pair of runs with a single in four at-bats.
