
Cougars Plan a Celebration to Last Throughout the Year

Geneva, IL – With the season’s start under their belt and the home opener just four days away on Tuesday, April 12, the Kane County Cougars are gearing up for a party-packed 2005 season. Featuring thirty-one fireworks shows, visits from Myron Noodleman, the ZOOperstars, BirdZerk, skydivers and the Jesse White Tumblers, the Cougars are anxious to get the festivities started.
From champagne brunches on MotherÂ’s Day to a beach party on Jimmy Buffett Day, the Cougars have much in store for fans as they celebrate their 15th Anniversary season.
Special Event Buffets:
MotherÂ’s Day, Sunday, May 8; FatherÂ’s Day, Sunday, June 19; Sunday, July 3 & Sunday, September 4
Due to the popularity of the Cougars holiday brunches last season, the Cougars have added two more dates, hosting four special event buffets during the 2005 Summer. Taking in the Cougars games from the centerfield deck, guests will enjoy unlimited food and beverage until the fourth inning on each date. Menus feature upscale, nontraditional ballpark fare. Prices, including a game ticket, for the buffets are $35.00 for adults (13 and up), $22.00 for children ages 5 to 12 and $10.00 for children ages 3 to 4. Children ages 2 and under are free with a paying adult.

Cub Scouts 75th Anniversary Celebration: Saturday, April 23:
Commemorating 75 years of Cub Scouting, the Cougars and Three Fires Council invite all scouts in the
Chicago area and their families to participate in the 75th Anniversary party taking place at Elfstrom Stadium on
Saturday, April 23. Scouts and their families will spend the day in the picnic area of Elfstrom Stadium, enjoying
a barbeque lunch and participating in activities honoring the history of scouting before an early Saturday
evening start brings them to their seats to catch the Cougars battle the South Bend Silver Hawks at 4:00 p.m.
Scout Campouts: Friday, May 27; Saturday, May 28; Sunday, May 29; and Saturday, July 2
For the third consecutive year, the Cougars have teamed up with the Three Fires Boy Scout Council to host a
Campout at the Ballpark on Sunday, May 28. As a result of such a large response to the event, the Cougars
have added a second date this year on Sunday, May 29. The Cougars are also working with neighboring Girl
Scout Councils and an additional Boy Scout Campout to be held on Friday, May 27 and Saturday, July 2
respectively. On all four evenings, scouts will be honored in a pre-game parade as well as present the Colors
during the National Anthem. Following the game, campers will be welcomed onto the outfield to watch a movie
before bedtime sends them to their tents located in the Cougars picnic area. Scouts will awake in the morning
to the scent of hot breakfast that awaits them prior to their departure.
Military Appreciation Weekend: Memorial Day Weekend; Monday, July 4; and Labor Day Weekend
The Cougars will show their patriotism by honoring men and women of the Armed Forces on three separate occasions during the 2005 season, Memorial Day Weekend, Monday, July 4 and Labor Day Weekend. Sporting patriotic caps and jerseys on-field, the Cougars extend a special welcome to members of the military and their families, as those showing proper military identification will receive ticket discounts on each occasion.
Ladies Day: Sunday, June 5
For the second year in a row, women of all ages will have the opportunity to partake in the fun of the Cougars
LadiesÂ’ Day festivities set for June 5. Prior to the Sunday afternoon game, ladies are invited to join members of the Cougars team and coaching staff on the field to interact in a series of instructional stations covering topics such as infielding, pitching, hitting, baserunning and rules of the game. Pre-registration is required. Once the gates open for the Cougars game, the stadiumÂ’s concourse will be transformed into a LadiesÂ’ Day expo with representatives from area businesses.
Jimmy Buffett Day: Sunday, August 7
Fans will be erupting with excitement, as the Cougars host their second annual Jimmy Buffett Night at the
ballpark on Sunday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m. With a ballpark decorated like a postcard from paradise, the
Cougars will take the field wearing tropical jerseys and caps. Fans are invited to stay after the game to see the
Chicago-based musical group, the Mr. Myers Band, in concert on the field. With a song list featuring Jimmy
Buffett, pop and original tunes, the Mr. Myers Band uniquely blends together the sounds of Soca & Calypso,
Reggae, Ska, R&B and Rock nÂ’ Roll.
Ozzie the CougarÂ’s Birthday Celebration: Monday, August 15
After helping celebrate thousands of birthdays at Elfstrom Stadium, itÂ’s finally time for the Cougars to honor the
teamÂ’s much loved kid-at-heart mascot Ozzie T. CougarÂ’s special day on Monday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m.
Featuring everyoneÂ’s favorite birthday traditions, including a cake for Ozzie, pin-the-tail on the Cougar and a
water balloon toss, fans of all ages are invited to join in the birthday revels. In lieu of gifts for Ozzie, party guests
are asked to bring toys to benefit the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots.

Presented by Provena Mercy Medical Center, the Cougars play game two of a four-game stint against the Cedar Rapids Kernels this evening at 6:30 p.m. With a 5:00 p.m. start on Saturday, the two wrap up the series Sunday afternoon with a matinee start at 2:00 p.m. Returning to Geneva for a three-game homestand on April 12, Kane County takes the field at Elfstrom Stadium against the Beloit Snappers, the new class A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, for the home opener Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
