April 9, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Clinton LumberKings News Release

Burlington, IA - For the second straight game, the Clinton LumberKings offense managed to put up only two runs of offense. Starter David Henninger picked up a win in his first professional start as the Burlington Bees edged the LumberKings 4-2 at Community Field.

Henninger (1-0) allowed two runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. Bees reliever Kraig Schambough worked three scoreless innings to preserve the win and get his first professional save.

The Bees scored three unearned runs against LumberKings starter Jacob Rasner (0-1) in the second inning. Shortstop Matt Smith's two-out error extended the inning for the Bees, who took the lead three batters later on Valentino Arce's two-run single. Arce finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBI's.

Rasner did not allow an earned run over five innings of work in his LumberKings debut. He allowed six hits, striking out three and walking one.

The LumberKings awoke offensively in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Joe Kemp and an RBI single by David Peterson, but were shut down over the final three innings by Schambough.

The loss earns Clinton the series split with Burlington. The teams meet again June at Alliant Energy Field.

The LumberKings travel to the Quad Cities to face the Swing for a three-game series starting Monday night. Game 1 will start at 6:30 pm. Listen to the game in Clinton on AM 1340 KROS, or stream the game live over the internet at www.lumberkings.com.
