Portland Lumberjax News Release

PORTLAND, Feb. 7, 2007 - The Portland LumberJax have acquired Minnesota Swarm forward Kelly Hall in exchange for Mike Hominuck in a trade made today. Hall comes to the Jax as the Swarm's leading goal-scorer (8) and is second on the squad in overall points with 17. Head Coach and General Manager Derek Keenan expects Hall to make an immediate impact on Portland's offensive game when he takes the floor against the Colorado Mammoth on Thursday, Feb. 15.

"Trading Mike was a difficult decision, because he was a huge part of our success last year and is a quality player," explained Keenan. "With Kelly, we get a forward with similar career stats and someone who can help our power play and perimeter shooting game in particular. It also makes logistical sense that Kelly is a West Coast [Victoria, British Columbia] resident and Mike lives back East. We really look forward to seeing Kelly in our line-up next week."

In the 32 games he has played in the National Lacrosse League, Hall has netted 52 goals and 48 assists for 100 points. Hall was originally selected in first round (10th overall) of the 2003 NLL 2003 Entry Draft by the San Jose Stealth where he played for one season before being traded to Minnesota. Hall's break-out year came in 2005 when he scored 27 goals and 21 assists for 48 points, ranking him first on the team in goals, points and power-play goals (19).

In exchange for Hall, the LumberJax had to say goodbye to forward Hominuck who has been leading the team in points (24) and assists (18) this season. Hominuck was also third on the squad in looseballs (39) and goals scored (6). During the Jax inaugural campaign, Hominuck led the team with 58 points and 32 goals. One of his highlights came against the Arizona Sting in the first round of NLL playoffs last season when the Welland, Ontario native scored four goals and an assist for five points. Hominuck currently holds the Jax record for assists in a game with seven, which he earned on the road against the Wings on Jan. 13.

Hall has been added to the Western Division All-Star nomination ballot as a LumberJax while Hominuck has been shifted to Eastern Division nomination list. Fans can cast their ballot for the 2007 All-Star Game at www.nll.com. The 2007 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, March 10 at 7 p.m. in the Rose Garden Arena.
