Mammoth acquires Moss in trade with Stealth

Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth has acquired former National Lacrosse League defenseman of the year Jim Moss from the San Jose Stealth.

In exchange for Moss, who was named the league's best defender and a first-team All-Pro in 2003, the Stealth receives forward Andrew Burkholder and the Mammoth's first-round selection in the 2007 NLL entry draft.

"Jim is a great athlete and plays a versatile game with heart and character," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "He's been a great player in this league for many years and is hungry to win a championship."

Moss, a 6-foot, 210-pound native of Brampton, Ontario, had been the Stealth's captain, but has not played for the team this season. He had played his entire career with the franchise, starting with the 2001 season when the team was based in Albany, N.Y.

Moss, who can play transition as well as defense, has tallied 72 points in 81 regular-season games. He represented the West Division at the 2004 and 2005 NLL All-Star games and won the outdoor world lacrosse championship with Team Canada last summer.
