
NLL Announces Week Six Player Awards

The National Lacrosse League has announced the Week Number Six player awards for the 2007 season. Toronto Rock goaltender Bob Watson was named both the Overall Player of the Week and the Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a pair of wins over the Buffalo Bandits in Week Six. Arizona Sting forward Dan Dawson earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, Colorado's Josh Sims was named Transition Player of the Week and Mammoth forward Jamie Shewchuk was named Rookie of the Week.
Toronto Rock goaltender Bob Watson earned both Overall Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in a pair of victories over the Buffalo Bandits in Week Six. On Friday at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, Watson turned away 30 shots and allowed ten goals while helping Toronto to a 14-10 victory. In the second game of the home-and-home series on Saturday night, Watson recorded 39 saves, allowed eight goals, tallied an assist and scooped up one loose ball as Toronto defeated Buffalo 13-8 at Air Canada Centre.
Arizona Sting forward Dan Dawson earned Offensive Player of the Week Honors for his performance in Arizona's 16-15 home win over the New York Titans on Friday at Jobing.com Arena. Dawson scored six goals and tallied three assists for nine points as the Sting recorded their fourth straight win. Dawson also collected two loose balls in the game and scored one short handed goal.
Josh Sims of the Colorado Mammoth earned Transition Player of the Week honors in Week Six. Sims scored six points on three goals and three assists as Colorado defeated the Edmonton Rush 16-7 at Pepsi Center in Denver. Sims also collected eleven loose balls and scored one short handed goal in the win.
Colorado Mammoth forward Jamie Shewchuk was named Rookie of the Week for Week Six. Shewchuk scored three goals, including two power play goals, and collected three loose balls in Colorado's 16-7 win over the Edmonton Rush at Pepsi Center in Denver on Saturday.
