Tri-City Americans News Release

KENNEWICK, WA - The Tri-City Americans are proud to announce that defenseman Lukas Dragicevic is one of 40 Canadian Hockey League Players named to the 2023 CHL/NHL Kubota Top Prospects Game. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25 at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.

The CHL/NHL Kubota Top Prospects Game is an annual event held to showcase some of the top NHL draft eligible prospects across the CHL.

Dragicevic, from Richmond, B.C., is in his second full season with the Americans after being drafted fourth overall in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. In his rookie season last year Dragicevic recorded 32 points (6-26-32) in 62 games. He was then named to Team Canada's roster for the World Under-18 Hockey Championship, the only 2005-born defenseman on the roster, where he added three points (1-2-3) in four games.

The 6-foot-2, 181-pound Dragicevic is off to an incredible start in his draft year, already surpassing his point total from last year with 37 points (8-29-37) in just 27 games. By recording an assist on Saturday against Prince George, Dragicevic extended his point streak to 21 games, tying Tyson Barrie (Kelowna Rockets) for the longest point streak by a defenseman since 2009.

After beginning the year as a B-ranked prospect by NHL Central Scouting, a potential second-or-third-round pick, he was recently upgraded to an A-ranked skater due to his explosive start to the season.

Dragicevic is the first Americans player to be named to the CHL/NHL Kubota Top Prospects Game since Sasha Mutala in 2019.
