SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Lansing Lugnuts (26-19, 64-48) got two hits off South Bend Silver Hawks (21-24, 55-59) starter Mike Bolsinger, but pushed across two runs in the seventh against the bullpen and won 3-1 on Thursday at The Cove.

Bolsinger went the first six innings and surrendered just one run, a Marcus Knecht solo home run, on two hits and struck out eight.

He turned the ball over to Keith Cantwell (Loss, 1-2), who recorded just one out before leaving the game with the bases loaded. Garis Pena stroked a single to centerfield off Victor Capellan to bring home the go-ahead run, and Eli Boike added the insurance run with a sacrifice to left field.

The Lugnuts trio of pitchers, Tyler Powell, Dustin Antolin, (Win, 2-1) and Danny Barnes shut down the Silver Hawks lineup, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out six.

K.C. Hobson was the only Lugnut with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.

Lansing starts southpaw Egan Smith (5-5, 3.66) in the rubber match of the three-game and season series against South Bend right-hander Jeff Shields (7-10, 4.35).

The Lugs return to action at Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday, August 13, with LAFCU Fireworks following the series-opener against the TinCaps. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
