
Lugo Beats Former Team in Pitching Duel

Harlingen, TX - Harlingen WhiteWings (7-10) starter Jorge Lugo (2-0), who was traded over from the Amarillo Dillas (10-6) during the off-season, struck out nine in six innings while allowing just six base runners to give the âWings a 3-2 win tonight at Harlingen Field.
The WhiteWings struck against Taylor Allen (2-1) in the second when Ryan Fox led off with a single and Brian Nichols followed with his sixth home run of the season to make it 2-0.
The Dillas tied the game in the fourth against Lugo. Danny Bravo led off with a walk and Justin Wenger hit a one-out single that moved Bravo to third. Stephen Doulgas followed with a sacrifice fly, and one batter later, Josh Ashton hit an RBI-single to tie the game 2-2.
Kevin Griffin gave the WhiteWings a 3-2 in the fifth with a two-out RBI single to drive in Miguel Peguero.
Allen ended up going seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Todd Lutz pitched two scoreless innings for a hold and Caleb Balbuena pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save.
The WhiteWings and Dillas complete the three game series tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. Right-hander Dan Valentin (2-1) will face left-hander Ronald Lowe (0-0).
