Lugnuts lose closer, gain Savickas from Dunedin

Geneva, Illinois..- The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that pitcher Danny Hill has been promoted from the Lugnuts today and will be sent to the Dunedin Blue Jays in the Florida State League. Taking Hill's place on the roster will be right handed pitcher Russ Savickas, who will join the team in Kane County tomorrow and will make his first start as a Lugnut on Sunday night from Elfstrom Stadium.

Hill, who earned 11 saves in 14 attempts for the Lugnuts, becomes the second Lugnut to earn a promotion to Dunedin this season, following Casey Janseen who was promoted on May 9th. In 17 games with Lansing, Hill earned a 1-2 record with a 2.04 ERA. Hill worked 17.2 IP and struck out 12 hitters.

Savickas will join the Lugnuts from Dunedin after appearing in just one game for the Blue Jays so far in 2005. The right hander from Johnston, Rhode Island who was a 9th round pick in 2002, earned the win on April 22nd with an inning of work against the Tampa Yankees. Overall in his career, Savickas has amassed a mark of 9-12 with an ERA of 4.24 in 37 career games, 31 of which have been starts. Prior to pitching in Dunedin, Savickas spent 2002 with the Medicine Hat Blue Jays and both 2003 and 2004 with the Pulaski Blue Jays.
