Lugnuts End Slide With Impressive Win

LANSING - The Lansing Lugnuts needed a big time performance Saturday night to end an eight game losing streak. They got it from Aaron Tressler, who toosed eight innings and held the Peoria Chiefs to just one run in a 3-1 win Oldsmobile Park before 8,956 fans.

Peoria scored a run in the first inning when Ryan Norwood singled home Davy Gregg to make it 1-0. The single would be the Chiefs' last hit until the eighth inning.

Tressler (7-4) was dominant for Lansing, throwing a season-high eight innings while allowing just one run on three hits. He fanned nine batters in the game as well, while retiring 22 of the final 24 batters that he faced..

The Lugnuts tied the game in the sixth inning when Josh Bell ripped an RBI double into right-center field that plated Brian Pettway.

Lansing took the lead in the next frame after Anthony Hatch's double brought home Jason Armstrong to make the score 2-1.

The Lugnuts' final run of the game came in the eighth, when Bell struck again. He blasted a solo homer off of the foul pole in left field to extend the lead to 3-1.
