Dallas Sidekicks News Release
WICHITA, Kan. (Nov. 23, 2014) - The Dallas Sidekicks pulled out their fourth straight win Sunday evening, Jame Lovegrove netting the golden goal to seal a 3-2 victory with just 30 seconds to go in overtime. Defender Fabinho shined with a goal and two assists in the match, which keeps Dallas soundly in the second spot in the Southern Division with a 4-1 record so far this season.
The Sidekicks maintained possession throughout the majority of the first half, but Wichita's defense and goalkeeper Boris Pardo held tight. The B-52s were the first of the afternoon to strike, Colin Lawter putting one past netminder Sagu at 13:39 in the first quarter. Just under a minute later Sidekicks defender Fabinho knocked in a goal off of a restart to tie it up. Dallas outshot Wichita 13-8 in during the first 30 minutes of play, but the score remained level at 1-1 going into halftime.
Shaun David gave the Sidekicks their first lead of the match four minutes into the third period, splitting the B-52's defense and beating Pardo. A few minutes later it was Wichita's turn to tie it up, Travis Pittman scoring at 7:20 to make it two-a-side.
The score remained level through the end of regulation, sending Dallas into their first overtime period of the season. After trading shots back-and-forth and both goalies putting up tremendous saves, it was Fabinho's pass to Lovegrove that ended the game, Lovegrove sending a scorcher into Wichita's net to win it for the Sidekicks 3-2.
The Sidekicks are back at Allen Event Center on Saturday, Dec. 6 when they host the Hidalgo La Fiera (2-2) at 7 p.m. It is Parade of Teams night, where all youth soccer organizations are invited to walk the field during halftime. The following Sunday, Dec. 14, the team welcomes the Tulsa Revolution (1-2) at 3 p.m.
