Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders lost 5-4 to the Louisville Bats in 11 innings at Lousiville Slugger Field on Thursday night. Blake Trahan's infield single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th brought home the game-winner.

Bats starter Robert Stephenson and RailRiders starting pitcher Erik Swanson matched zeros over the first three innings. Stephenson did not allow a hit until the fourth, striking out two over the first three. Swanson surrendered a single in the second, stranded that runner at third and struck out four through three innings.

Clint Frazier doubled with two down in the fourth and scored on a single by Brandon Drury for a 1-0 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre advantage. Drury's base hit extended his on-base streak to 23 games; each game he has played in Triple-A this season.

Louisville evened the score at one in the bottom of the fifth. Gabriel Guerrero doubled with one out, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

In the top half of the sixth, Mike Ford walked and Brandon Drury doubled with one. Billy McKinney's groundout to the right side allowed Ford to cross for a 2-1 RailRiders lead.

The Bats scored three times in the bottom of the inning on five hits. Nick Senzel doubled in the tying and go-ahead runs before scoring on a base hit by former RailRiders outfielder Mason Williams to give Louisville a 4-2 lead.

Ryan McBroom's two-out single in the eighth plated Brandon Drury and cut the deficit to one, but Scranton/Wilkes-Barre left a pair of runners on the bags. In the ninth, Tyler Wade singled, stole second and took third on a wild pitch by Tanner Rainey. After Ford walked with two outs, Wade scored on a wild pitch with Drury at the plate and two outs to tie the game at four.

Neither club could score in the tenth and the RailRiders we held in check in the top of the 11th. In the bottom of the inning with the bases loaded and one down, Trahan reached on a single against a drawn-in infield to score Josh VanMeter to give Louisville a win an avoid the series sweep.

Giovanny Gallegos (0-1) took the loss while Evan Mitchell (1-1) was the benefactor.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre opens a three-game series in Indianapolis on Friday night. Chance Adams (1-2, 5.93) will start the opener for the RailRiders against JT Brubaker (2-1, 3.32) and the Indians. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is back at PNC Field on Tuesday, June 5, to begin a 10-game, nine-day homestand against Durham, Louisville and Rochester. Tickets are available online at swbrailriders.com
