Loudoun United FC Acquire Forward Tyler Freeman and Goalkeeper Luis Zamudio
March 11, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Loudoun United FC News Release
Leesburg, VA. - Loudoun United FC announced today the signing of forward Tyler Freeman and goalkeeper Luis Zamudio.
Freeman, a Kansas native, joins Loudoun United on loan ahead of the 2022 United Soccer League (USL) Championship season. Freeman joined the Sporting Kansas City youth academy in 2014. In October 2018, the academy product became the second-youngest player in Sporting history to sign an MLS contract at 15 years old. He's recorded six goals and one assist in 35 USL Championship appearances for Sporting Kansas City II.
"Tyler [Freeman] is an exciting and versatile attacker that has the ability to create for himself and others," said Loudoun United Head Coach Ryan Martin. "His ability to open the game in the final third at just 19-years-old is special, and he has a high ceiling to grow."
In August of 2021, Sporting Kansas City loaned Freeman to Karlsruher SC for the 2021-2022 Germany 2 Bundesliga season where he made 4 appearances.
Internationally, Freeman has competed for the United States Youth National Team at the U-14, U-16 and U-17 levels, notably competing at the 2019 CONCACAF U-17 Championships.
Zamudio, a Las Vegas native, started his playing career in Liga MX's Club America youth academy for four seasons. His performances earned him a promotion to the first team in July of 2019. The 6'3" goalkeeper spent the 2020 season with League One's North Texas Soccer Club, where he featured in four matches.
"Luis [Zamudio] is a goalkeeper with tremendous experience for such a young career starting at Club America in Mexico," said Ryan Martin. "He has a great presence in goal with his size and is very good with his feet building out from the back. He will be a great addition to help us start our attacks. He has a very good understanding of the game, and we couldn't be happier to have him join our team"
Zamudio joined Fort Lauderdale CF ahead of the 2021 USL League One Season. He made seven appearances for the team, starting in each of them, recording one clean sheet and totaling 630 minutes on the pitch. Zamudio's highlight of the season came in Week 9 where he was named to the Team of the Week after his eight-save performance against North Carolina. On July 7, 2021, Miami FC added Zamudio on loan from Fort Lauderdale CF for the remainder of the USL Championship season.
