Oakland Roots Sign Venezuelan Attacker Juan Carlos Azocar

Oakland Roots have added Venezuelan winger Juan Carlos Azocar to the team as they prepare for the 2022 USL Championship season opener this Saturday, March 12th. Azocar most recently featured in the USL Championship for Rio Grande Valley in 2021 where he made 27 appearances, scoring on seven occasions.

"We are very excited to add Juan Azocar to the team," commented Head Coach Juan Guerra. "He is someone who was in the league last year and was able to adapt very well to this environment. His verticality and creativity on the ball will be really important to our attack, both scoring and setting up goals for us."

At just 26 years of age Juan Carlos Azocar has a wealth of experience at the top levels, having made nearly 200 appearances in the First Division of Venezuela before two loan stints in Europe and the United States, respectively. Azocar spent time in Armenia with Urartu before making his way to play in the USL Championship on loan in 2021.
