Loudoun United FC News Release
Loudoun County, Va. - Loudoun United FC have acquired defender Matt Di Rosa for the 2021 USL Championship season.
"As a local guy who grew up in DC and played for the University of Maryland, we've monitored Matt's development over the years and we're excited to bring him home to the DMV area with Loudoun United," Stewart Mairs, Loudoun United FC General Manager, said. "He's versatile and can play in either the midfield or in the backline. He has good defensive instincts and a range of passing that we're excited to integrate into our squad."
Matt Di Rosa started his professional career when he was selected 25th overall by Toronto FC in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. The 22-year-old did not sign an MLS contract with Toronto following his selection and has been without a club since March 2021.
Prior to his professional career, Di Rosa played four seasons of collegiate soccer at the University of Maryland from 2017 to 2020. During his time at Maryland, he made 46 appearances (33 starts), scoring a goal and recording three assists. Di Rosa made 21 appearances (12 starts) in Maryland's National Championship season in 2018.
