Match Preview: Republic FC V Orange County SC
July 9, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sacramento Republic FC News Release
The Indomitable Club grabbed a point in the standings for the second straight match following Wednesday night's 0-0 draw at home against Oakland Roots SC.
Republic FC's defense was extremely stout against its Northern California neighbor, outshooting the visitors on the night 19 to 3.
Mark Briggs' men now turn their attention to this weekend's opponent - Orange County SC - and keeping the momentum going en route to what the squad is hoping will be a third straight unbeaten fixture.
With an evening kickoff at 8 p.m. PT, temperatures will be cooling down but the intensity on the pitch will surely be sizzling.

What's the latest on the team?
Republic FC (2-5-3, 9 points) racked up 19 shots against Oakland Roots SC on Wednesday but were unable to find the back of the net and claim all three points.
But Sacramento did manage to collect a priceless point in the Pacific Division standings following the scoreless draw.
Even though SRFC couldn't manage to break the deadlock, the Indomitable Club created 14 scoring chances on the night compared to Roots SC's two scoring opportunities created. On the night, Duke Lacroix and Dariusz Formella led the team with three chances created each while a total of seven different Sacramento players were credited with creating at least one opportunity.
A win for Republic FC on Saturday could see the side potentially climb as high as fourth place in the divisional standings.
What about the visitors?
Orange County SC (5-2-3, 18 points) currently sits in second place and trails division-leaders Phoenix Rising FC by just four points.
The defense has certainly been OCSC's strength this season, having surrendered just nine goals through ten matches. Orange County is one of just three Western Conference clubs to still have allowed single-digit goals in 2021 and the Southern California club has held its previous two opponents scoreless.
After sharing the spoils with LA Galaxy II, 1-1, on June 23, Orange County claimed a 2-0 win on the road against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. OCSC's Eero Markkanen and Eric Calvillo both found the back of the net against the club from the Rocky Mountains.
Most recently, Orange County and Tacoma Defiance played to a scoreless draw in Irvine, CA. The nil-nil result was just the second time all season OCSC has been held scoreless.
Head-to-Head
Saturday night's match will mark the third of four regular season fixtures Republic FC has against Orange County SC.
The match will also be the last time Orange County visits Sacramento during regular season play in 2021. The first of the two fixtures at Heart Health Park this campaign was also the most recent game between the two California clubs with the SoCal side earning a 3-1 win.
Despite falling behind by two goals and seeing a man sent off, Sacramento was far from finished fighting and managed to pull one back at the hour mark by way of Tucker Bone. Orange County added a third before the final whistle, but a resilient Republic FC side showed its fight until the bitter end.
Overall (USL regular season): 9-8-3
Home: 6-5-1 (GF: 17, GA: 14)
Away: 3-3-2 (GF: 13, GA: 10)
