BAYSOX SHOW SOME POP

After getting swept in a doubleheader last Thursday, losing each game by a single run, the Baysox rallied to take the final three of a four-game, five-day series in Reading, outscoring the Phillies, 32-17, in the three victories. The Baysox tallied a season-high 16 runs in a 16-8 victory on Saturday and then took Sunday's rubber match, 6-3. The Baysox exploded for ten homers over the three games of the Reading series, including a season-high five on July 19. That marked the Baysox biggest single-game mark since July 1, 2000, when they also connected for five long balls in Reading. Bowie headed into the Reading series with only five multi-homer games on the year and no games with more than a pair of long balls. After Ruben Rivera connected twice on Friday, Kurt Airoso led the five-homer attack with a pair of his own on Saturday and added another long ball to go with two Juan Diaz (pictured left) homers as part of a three-homer effort on Sunday.

After going their first 94 games with only five multi-homer games, Bowie has no had multiple long balls in four of their last seven games. Rivera's two homeruns on Tuesday marked his second two-homerun game since joining the Baysox on July 6. Through Wednesday, the Baysox had twelve homers in six games, accounting for 22.2 percent of their total output this season.
