Reading Fightin Phils News Release
On Saturday, August 2, boys and girls ages 5-16 are invited to compete in the second Annual VOICES / Y102 Baseballtown Youth Day, Run, Pitch and Hit Contest at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Children will compete on the field in all three events. The "Run" competition times the kids to see who is the quickest from home plate to first base.
The "Pitch" competition takes place in the bullpen and gauges pitching accuracy.
The "Hit" competition lets the kids slug away for distance. Trophies will be awarded in six age categories for both boys and girls (12 categories total), and the whole event promises to be fun for the kids - after all, you will be competing right on the field at FirstEnergy Stadium!
Pre-registration is required and can be done by calling 610-375-8469.
A $5.00 donation to Baseballtown Charities guarantees a spot in the second Annual VOICES Y102 Baseballtown Youth Day.
Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in every age category (5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16) and the top two winners in each age group will win a special Philadelphia Phillies Prize Pack thanks to Citizens Bank. That's a total of 36 trophies and 24 Phillies prize packs!
The Phillies Prize Includes:
1 ticket to the Philadelphia Phillies Youth Clinic on Saturday, August 16
3 passes to the Phillies pre-game tent party
3 vouchers for tickets to the Phillies game against the St. Louis Cardinals
*Takes place rain or shine
Details for Saturday, August 16, 2003:
2:15 PM - Arrive at Veterans Stadium, press entrance under Gate B (park across the street from the Stadium at the Wachovia Spectrum). Redeem ticket voucher at ticket window
3-4 PM - Youth Clinic on the Field at the Vet
* Children should wear comfortable shoes/sneakers and bring a glove.
*Accompanying adults may watch from the stands.
*Children under 5 are not allowed on the field, but may watch in the stands with an adult.
*Children will be escorted back to their parents at the completion of the clinic.
4-5 PM - Watch batting practice and speed pitch
5-7 PM - Dinner Reception
*Tent outside stadium under Gate B, street level.
*Must have pass to enter tent.
7:05 PM - Phillies game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals.
