Losing Streak Snapped as Aviators Win 8-2

July 25, 2014 - Frontier League (FL)
Rockford Aviators News Release

FLORENCE, KY - The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, snapped their four-game losing streak with an 8-2 win over the Florence Freedom on Friday night.

It was an offensive showdown through the first two innings as the Aviators scored two runs in both the first and second innings and the Freedom scored one run in each.

The Aviators scored at least one run through the first four innings as the Freedom showed sloppy defense, committing two errors that led to several Aviators runs to score.

Joey Wagman was strong once again for the Aviators, settling in after the first two innings and going on to pitch seven innings while allowing just two runs on four hits. He also would strike out nine batters, as he now leads the Frontier League in the category with 85 punchouts this season.

Outfielder, Dusty Robinson, had his first home run of the season for the Aviators with a solo shot in the top of the ninth inning to seal the win.

The Aviators are back in action tomorrow night to wrap up the three-game series with the Freedom. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:05 ET and 5:05 CT. The broadcast can be heard on the Meridix Network and the link can be found at www.rockfordaviators.com.
