
Lopsided loss for the Whitecaps

COMSTOCK PARK - South Bend pulled away from the Whitecaps with seven runs over the middle three innings of a 9-3 victory over the Whitecaps. Dallas Trahern was touched for six runs (five earned) on six hits over five innings and suffered the loss. Carlos Gonzales led the offensive attach for the Silver Hawks. He belted a two-run homer in the fifth and drove in another run with a double in the sixth. It was the second of back-to-back doubles for South Bend. The first was by Augie Murillo. Alberto Gonzalez drove in a pair of runs, including the last for South Bend on a ninth inning double. Brent Dlugach picked up an RBI single in the seventh for the Whitecaps to extend his hitting streak to eight games. It is the second eight game streak this season for Dlugach. Nick McIntyre has also hit safely in eight straight games for the Whitecaps this season.
Andrew Graham and Josh Lee both collected RBI for West Michigan. Lee was 2-for-4 with a double. West Michigan has dropped four of its last five games.
