
Famous Chicken to Highlight 2005 Midwest League All-Star Game Festivities

The 2005 Midwest League All-Star Game Presented by Pepsi is coming to downtown Peoria. O'Brien Field will host the All-Star game on Tuesday June 21 at 7:00 PM and preparations are underway to make the event the best in MWL history. Gates will open at 5:00 PM with a Home Run Derby starting at 6:00. The Home Run Derby will feature the top eight HR hitters who were selected to participate in the game. The game will start at 7:00 PM and will feature entertainment by The Famous Chicken. The Chicken is in retirement and is making a special appearance at O'Brien Field to entertain the fans at the Midwest League All-Star Game. There will also be a Fireworks Show following the game presented by Pepsi.
The game itself will feature the top 60 players in the 14-team Midwest League. The players are selected by the 14 League Managers and the rosters will be announced the week before the game. Players who have appeared in the Midwest League All-Star game the past five seasons include: Albert Pujols, Danny Haren, Austin Kearns, Dontrelle Willis, Joe Mauer, Dallas McPherson, Jason Lane, Adam Dunn, Jake Peavy, Justin Morneau, Miguel Caberea, Adrian Gonzalez, Oliver Perez, Casey Daigle and Joe Blanton, all whom have made the Major Leagues.
The Famous Chicken has been performing for four decades at sporting events, concerts, parties and in movies all over the world. In 1982 the Chicken became the first fan ever honored on a baseball card and has appeared on posters, cereal boxes, t-shirts, and commercial for numbers products throughout the years. The Chicken will bring his unique entertainment to O'Brien Field for just one appearance in 2005, the Midwest League All-Star Game Presented by Pepsi.
Tickets are $12 (Club Box Seats), $11 (Box Seats) and $8 (General Admission) and are currently available and can be purchased in three methods:
In Person: the Box Office on the corner of Jefferson and Oak is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on non-game days and 10:00 AM until the 7th inning on game days
