Great Lakes Loons News Release

BELOIT, WI - Jaime Pedroza homered and Parker Dalton drove in three Sunday afternoon as the Great Lakes Loons won their second straight over Beloit by a final of 6-5.

Trailing 1-0 in the third, Pedroza belted a two-run home run over the wall in right field to give the Loons the lead for good.

Great Lakes (13-10) scored four runs in the fourth inning. Dalton doubled with the bases loaded to score three. Dalton later scored on an RBI double by Dee Gordon to give the Loons a five-run lead.

Beloit battled back with a three-run fifth inning. They later pulled to within one on a solo home run by Jon Waltenbury, his second homer in the series, but would never get closer.

Javy Guerra hurled the game's final two innings for his seventh save, tied for first in the Midwest League. Josh Walter (1-0) relieved starter Bobby Blevins and pitched two scoreless innings for his first win.

The Loons are now four games behind first-place Fort Wayne and three and a half games behind second-place West Michigan.

Gordon finished the game with three hits. Pedroza is now 11-of-22 (.500) on the Loons' Badger State road trip. Dalton has recorded eight RBIs this series against Beloit.

The Loons wrap up their six-game roadtrip Monday with a school kids' game at Pohlman Field. Game time is noon ET. The game will be carried live on ESPN 100.9-FM. Right-hander Kyle Smit (0-1, 5.68 ERA) will make his second start of the season opposite right-hander Brad Tippett (1-0, 4.05).

The Loons return to action at Dow Diamond Tuesday against Quad Cities with a Dollar Family Feast Night, presented by Chemical Bank. During the game, hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches and 12 oz. sodas are priced at $1 each at the Dow Diamond concession stands.
