Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (May 3, 2009) - The Burlington Bees evened their three-game series with West Michigan at a game apiece by defeating the White Caps 1-0 in ten innings Sunday afternoon. Patrick Norris singled in Antonio Jimenez from second with two outs to secure the win for the Bees.

Bryan Casey got the start for the Bees and looked great. In six innings of work, he allowed just five hits with four strikeouts and three walks. He allowed base runners in five of his six innings but was able to work out of jams. In the fourth, he loaded the bases with no outs and got out of it. He was assisted by a throw from left fielder Wilson Tucker that got Bryan Pounds trying to tag and score from third.

Blaine Hardy pitched the final four innings for the Bees and picked up the win to move to 1-2 on the season. He allowed just one hit with three strikeouts and no walks.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, the first two batters for the Bees were retired. Jimenez then doubled to left-center. Norris then came to the plate and pushed a single through the hole on the first base side. Jimenez was sent home and the throw from right field was off the line for the Bees to pick up the victory.

Fernando Garcia had two of the Bees' four hits in the game.

The Bees conclude the three-game series with West Michigan Monday night at 6:30 at Community Field. Sam Runion is the scheduled starter for the Bees. The game can be heard on News-Radio 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. Tickets are available by visiting Community Field, calling (319) 754-5705 or by logging on to www.GoBees.Com.
