Loons Doubleheader Postponed Due to Field Conditions

April 10, 2015 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Great Lakes Loons News Release

MIDLAND, Mich. - Due to current field conditions at Dow Diamond, tonight's doubleheader scheduled between the Great Lakes Loons and Fort Wayne TinCaps has been postponed.

The Loons grounds crew has been working around the clock attempting to make the field playable, but have experienced extensive soil moisture under the infield. After consulting with Loons staff, the grounds crew, league officials and both coaching staffs, it was determined that the playing surface was not suitable for play.

"Our staff has made every effort to make the field safe for the players," Loons general manager Scott Litle said. "They're currently experiencing conditions similar to that of the Lansing Lugnuts in 2011. Our grounds crew has consulted with a number of experts and will continue to do everything in their power to expedite the process. But, we also need to let Mother Nature take its course."

The games originally scheduled for April 9 and 10 in Great Lakes will be made up later this season. Those dates and times are to be determined.

The start time for tomorrow's game will be the originally scheduled 2:05 p.m. Gates will open at 1 p.m.

Fans that purchased tickets for today's games may exchange them at the Dow Diamond box office for tickets of equal or lesser value to Saturday's game or any of the remaining Loons home games during the 2015 regular season, based on availability.

Tomorrow is the Loons Pennant Race with festivities starting at 10 a.m. The first 5,000 fans who attend tomorrow's doubleheader will receive a Loons magnet schedule courtesy of Farm Bureau Insurance.

The Great Lakes Loons are the ninth-year Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. For more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
