Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

The Chattanooga Lookouts overcame a 5-run deficit but fell to the Tennessee Smokies 11-10.

Down 1-0 entering the fourth, the Tennesse Smokies exploded for six runs highlighted by a Cole Roederer grand slam.

Now trailing by five the Lookouts immediately battled back. After two walks to start the inning, Quincy McAfee belted a triple to bring them within three runs. Hurtbuise drove home McAfee and then scored on a Blake Dunn groundout later in the frame.

Tennessee increased their lead to three in the fifth, but Chattanooga answered right back with two more runs of their own in the bottom of that inning.

Back-to-back doubles by Ivan Johnson and Alex McGarry tied the game up at 8 in the sixth. Michael Trautwein seized the lead for the Lookouts in the seventh on a 401-foot homer and they added another run on a balk.

Now up 10-8, the Lokoouts lead did not last long as Roederer belted his second homer of the day, a 3-run shot to make it 11-10 Tennessee.

RHP Sam Benschoter takes the mound for Chattanooga on a 2:15 p.m. Sunday matinee. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gates tomorrow receive a Patriot Mini-Bat presented by Dr. Pepper.
