Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - For those fans who find circular-shaped numbers on the scoreboard to be a rather repulsive image, Wednesday night's action between the Huntsville Stars and Chattanooga Lookouts was a visual delight. Additionally, fans for whom lead changes are a blissful occurrence were equally satisfied by the see-saw match-up that unraveled at AT&T Field. After all the dust settled at home plate, the Lookouts held an 11-5 victory, fueled by a five-run eighth inning. The Lookouts entered the scoreboard in the first on a Lucas May sacrifice fly; however, the Stars took the early lead by plating a run in the second and third frames.

In what would prove to be a reoccurring motif throughout the game, the lead changed again in the third on a two-RBI double by Lucas May. Huntsville tied up the score in the fourth on a Taylor Green RBI single, which was prefaced by a Vinny Rottino double.

As a keen and observant fan may expect at this point, the Lookouts quickly broke the stalemate. Doubles by Tommy Giles and James Tomlin in the bottom of the fourth resulted in a run and a 4-3 lead for the Lookouts.

The Stars kept the good times rollin' in the fifth with another run to, once again, tie-up the score at 4-4 on an Adam Stern triple and subsequent Travis Chick wild pitch.

After both teams miraculously exchanged zero spots, the Lookouts reclaimed the lead in the sixth on a Russ Mitchell solo shot. Huntsville scored in the seventh on a Drew T. Anderson RBI single, while the Lookouts scored in the bottom portion of the inning. Ramon Nivar began the rally with a double, which prolonged his hitting streak to a team-high 10 games. Josh Bell then advanced Nivar to third with an infield single. Lucas May followed with a ground out to shortstop, which scored Nivar.

After playing seven innings of quid pro quo baseball, the Lookouts finally decided to adhere to and augment their lead in the bottom of the eighth. A five-run inning, highlighted by a Nivar two-RBI double and RBI singles from May, Andrew Lambo, and Adam Godwin put the score at its final resting place, 11-5.

Tim Corcoran (3-6) threw 1.1 innings of relief to pick-up the win for the Lookouts. He yielded one unearned run on two hits, while striking out one. Victor Garate earned his second save of the season by throwing the final two innings in shutout fashion.

Casey Baron (4-4) took the loss for the Stars. In two innings of relief work, he surrendered two runs on three hits and a walk. He struck out three in the losing effort.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Huntsville Stars will continue their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
