C Yamid Haad traded to Portland

JACKSON, TENN. (JULY 8, 2009) - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves affecting the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.

C Yamid Haad has been reinstated for the disabled list and traded to Triple-A Portland of the Pacific Coast League. Haad was placed on the DL on July 1st. The 31 year old Haad hit .231 for the Jaxx with 5 HR and 18 RBI. Haad caught in 38 for the Jaxx and committed just 4 errors. Haad threw out 8 of 32 on the base paths. Seattle has had previous dealings with the Padres this season, acquiring C Colt Morton earlier this season. The Jaxx now have two active catchers, Colt Morton and Guillermo Quiroz.

The Jaxx also have activated RHP Kyle Parker from the high-A High Desert roster and placed RHP Steve Bray on the High Desert roster prior to tonight's game. Parker will make his team leading 17th start of the season tonight against Mobile.

Attached is a revised Diamond Jaxx roster and also game notes for tonight's game with the Mobile BayBears.

Diamond Jaxx Report: The first place Jaxx completed their 4-game sweep of Huntsville behind the strong pitching of Steven Bray who has allowed just 1 earned run in his last three starts (20.0 IP). Jaxx have now won 6 straight games. CF Greg Halman leads the Southern League with 20 home runs. Since coming off DL on June 25, Halman has recorded a hit in 12 of 13 games, including 7 home runs. Marshall Hubbard recorded his first triple of the season. Reliever Josh Fields tossed a shutout inning and has not allowed a run in his last 3 appearances and 8 of his last 10. The Jaxx now have won 11 of their last 13 and have a 3 game lead on Tenn in the SL North.

A Sweeping Visit: The Jaxx pounded out 11 homeruns and out-scored Huntsville 34 to 16 in the four game sweep. The Jaxx hit 10 homers in the first two games of the series on Saturday and Sunday in 10-2 and 11-8 victories.

A HOT July: West Tenn has opened the month of July 6-1. In the 7 games, the Jaxx have hit 14 homeruns and scored 44 runs. Mike Wilson and Greg Halman have combined to hit 8 HR and drive in 14 runs. The Jaxx pitching staff has been on fire as well going 6-1 with a 2.86 ERA. The pitching staff has struck out 39 batter and walked just 22 in 63 innings of duty.
