Jaxx Win Streak Reaches Seven with 3-2 Win Over Mobile

JACKSON, TENN. (July 8, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx (12-5) push the winning streak to seven games with a 3 to 2 win over the Mobile BayBears (9-7) Wednesday night. The Jaxx have taken now 12 of 14 and have a 3.5 game lead in the North Division. Kyle Parker (5-4) posted his third straight seven inning performance, allowing no runs on six base hits. Greg Halman drove in two and David Espinosa had an RBI triple to lead the Jaxx to the game one victory. Phillippe Aumont surrendered two runs in the ninth but got his second save.

With two outs, David Espinosa tripled in Johan Limonta to give the Jaxx a 1-0 lead. Limonta doubled with two outs and scores the Jaxx first run of the game.

The reigning Southern League Hitter of the Week, Greg Halman provided more offense for the Jaxx Wednesday. Halman drove in two with a two out single in the bottom of the seventh. Halman now has a six game hitting streak and has hit in 13 of his last 14 games since coming off the DL.

Jaxx starter, Kyle Parker left after the seventh inning and just threw 70 pitches. Parker has given up just four runs in his last 21 innings on the hill. As a whole this Jaxx pitching staff has a team 2.25 ERA so far in the month of July. Matt Torra (6-7) takes the loss for Mobile and is now 0-2 against the Jaxx in three starts. Torra gave up three runs, but only one earned on eight hits while striking out six. Ricky Orta recorded his first hold dealing a scoreless eighth.

The BayBears did not go down without a fight against Jaxx reliever, Phillippe Aumont (S, 2) in the ninth. Mark Hallberg drove in two with a base hit and cut the Jaxx lead to one. But, Aumont struck out Evan Frey and Pedro Ciriaco to leave the tying run on base.

Game two of the series begins at 7:05 on Thursday night at Pringles Park. RHP Luis Munoz (2-4, 4.84) starts for the Diamond Jaxx. Mobile will counter with RHP Wes Roemer (4-5, 3.58)
