Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts displayed why they are a first-place team by staging a dramatic comeback in the bottom of the ninth in a 3-2 win over the Jacksonville Suns in Thursday night action at AT&T Field. Jacksonville jumped off to an early lead in the first by plating a run. With two outs already on the board, Logan Morrison singled and was followed by Scott Cousins, who proceeded to hit an RBI double.

The Lookouts were able to manufacture a run in the third inning. Adam Godwin led off by getting hit by a pitch and advancing to second on a Jesus Rodriguez sacrifice bunt. After a James Tomlin fly out that advanced Godwin to third, Ramon Nivar ripped a double off of the right field wall to put the score at 1-1.

The game would not remain tied for very long, as Kevin Randel launched a solo shot to lead off the top of the fourth for the Suns. The score remained 2-1 until the bottom of the ninth, when the Lookouts mounted a game-winning comeback. With one out, Russ Mitchell battled relief pitcher Matt Peterson (3-4) for a walk. A full-count, hit-and-run worked to perfection, as Adam Godwin hit a hard grounder to third baseman Matt Dominguez, who had no play at second and threw to first for the out. With two outs and the tying run on second, Vinny Rottino stepped up to the plate and hit a bounding single up the middle, scoring Mitchell. James Tomlin followed by ripping a Peterson offering down the third base line, which rattled around in the right field corner. A fleet-footed Rottino flew around the bases and crossed home plate standing up for the winning run.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Jacksonville Suns will continue their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
