HOOVER, Ala. - The Tennessee Smokies (22-19) began a five-game series with the Birmingham Barons (25-16) with a 2-0 loss on Thursday night at Regions Park.
The loss combined with Chattanooga's 3-2 win over the Jacksonville Suns mean the Smokies are a game back of the Southern League's North Division lead with 29 games left to play.
