JACKSON, TENN. (AUGUST 6, 2009) - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves affecting the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.

Seattle Mariners first round pick, INF Rich Poythress has been activated to the Diamond Jaxx roster for tonight's game. Drafted in the second round with the 51st overall pick by the Mariners this past June as a Junior out of the University of Georgia, Poythress played in six games with the AZL Mariners in Peoria, AZ. In those games he hit.300 (6x20) with 1 HR and 6 RBI. He played first base in five games and DH in the first. The Grovetown, Ga., native becomes the fourth Georgia Bulldog to be drafted in the first two rounds in the last four years. Gordon Beckham and Josh Fields were both taken in the first round last year, and Brooks Brown was selected in the first round in 2006. Poythress led the Bulldogs with a .376 average, 25 home runs and 86 RBI in 2009 and was named a Louisville Slugger All-American and first team All-SEC. Poythress set the single season school RBI record this season and is second on Georgia's career RBI list. He had four multi-home run games in 2009 including two three home run games, the second player in Georgia history to accomplish that feat. Tied Gordon Beckham's single season school record 77 RBI with an RBI groundout at South Carolina on May 16.

INF Jimmy Mojica has been placed on the DL due to a baseball took to the face in the game on Monday night.
