Lookouts Blank Barons, 6-0

Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Lookouts starting pitcher Travis Chick combined with relief pitcher Kendy Bastista to throw a one-hit shutout, while the Lookouts offense held their half of the bargain in a 6-0 win over Birmingham in Sunday night action at AT&T Field.

The Lookouts jumped off to an early 4-0 lead in the second. Eddy Perez began the rally with a double and made his way to third on a subsequent Russ Mitchell single.

Perez would score on a Vinny Rottino fielder's choice in which the Barons were unsuccessful in recording an out at second due to the second baseman C.J.Retherford's inability to touch the base. After a Tommy Giles double play, Juan Gonzalez singled to plate Mitchell. Trayvon Robinson then singled to push Gonzalez to third. Justin Sellers nailed a triple to right-center field to bring home Gonzalez and Robinson. Gaby Martinez blasted a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the third, giving the Lookouts a 5-0 lead. A superfluous insurance run was added in the sixth for the Lookouts on an Andrew Lambo RBI single, which brought home Giles.

Meanwhile, despite early control problems, Lookouts starting pitcher Travis Chick (8-7) dominated the potent Barons' bats and held a no-hitter until the eighth inning, when a leadoff John Shelby III double broke up the righties quest for history. After striking out Jordan Danks, Kendy Batista entered the game in relief for the Lookouts and carried on the baton of dominance by recording the final five outs of the game without a blemish.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Birmingham Barons will wrap-up their five-game series and regular season at 2:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
