Durham, NC - Tampa Bay Devil Rays top prospect Evan Longoria, the third overall selection in the 2006 June Amateur Draft, is expected to make his Triple-A debut on Thursday night as the Durham Bulls take on the Columbus Clippers at 7:00 PM at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Longoria, who has dominated Double-A pitching playing in Montgomery this season, was promoted to Durham on Wednesday, arriving at the ballpark in the middle of last night's game.
He was hitting .307 and led the Southern League with 76 RBIs and 78 runs. He hit a game-winning grand slam in the 10th inning Monday night, his 21st homer of the season, which tied him for the league lead.
Longoria was also second in the Southern League with 117 hits, third in slugging percentage (.528), fifth in on-base percentage (.403) and seventh in batting average.
