Longball Responsible for All Seven Run in Hoppers' 6-1 Victory

Eastlake, Ohio - Greensboro was one out shy of shutting out Lake County in the series opener Tuesday. But the one Captains runs wasn't enough to take the distraction away from the fact that the Hoppers belted four home runs in the contest, including two from Mike Stanton, en route to a 6-1 victory.

Stanton put the Hoppers up in the second inning with a leadoff home run and Greensboro never looked back.

Starter Alex Sanabia pitched six scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six batters to improve to 4-3 on the season. Sanabia and manager Edwin Rodriguez then placed the ball into Peter Andrelczyk's hand. In two innings of action, Andrelczyk struck out three and allowed just two hits while keeping Lake County scoreless.

All of Greensboro's runs came by way of the long ball. After Stanton opened the scoring in the second, Matt Dominguez homered in the fourth before Stanton hit his second of the night in the sixth.

With two outs and two runners on base, the Hoppers' Brian Schultz hit his first professional home run to make it 6-0.

Lake County's lone run also came off of a home run as Corey Madden surrendered a two-out blast to Todd Martin in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The middle three batters for Greensboro combined for a 6-for-11 performance at the plate while the pitching staff struck out 11.

Greensboro and Lake County return to action Wednesday in game two of the four-game set. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Classic Park.
