Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Kannapolis, NC - The manger who piloted the Intimidators to the 2005 South Atlantic League Championship is back as the skipper in Kannapolis. Nick Capra takes over the reigns for the final five weeks of the season.
Capra managed the Intimidators in 2005 in his only season in Kannapolis. The 13 year veteran in the White Sox organization has also managed in Bristol, Birmingham and Charlotte during his tenure. Capra spent 2006 and 2007 as the White Sox hitting coordinator. He was named the Assistant Director of Minor League Instruction prior to the 2008 season. He still holds that post but has taken over as the manager in Kannapolis for the rest of the season.
Capra replaces Chris Jones as the club's manager. Jones was relieved of his managerial duties by the White Sox Monday prior to the team's doubleheader in Lakewood.
Capra played in 45 Major League games from 1982 to 1991 with the Rangers and Royals.
The Intimidators are in the midst of an eight-game roadtrip. Kannapolis opens a four-game set in Delmarva starting tonight. Coverage starts tonight at intimidatorsbaseball.com with Dan Bumpus at 6:50pm for a 7:05pm first pitch. Kannapolis is back home August 2nd against Hagerstown to begin an eight-game homestand.
