Hagerstown Suns News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MD - An eighth inning home run by Brian Pellegrini propelled the Lexington Legends (14-23) to a 3-1 win over the Hagerstown Suns (18-20). The Suns pitching had kept the Legends bats quiet until they pushed three runs across in the top of the eighth, all with two outs.

Matt Cusick started the rally off with a double to left field. First baseman Eric Taylor brough home Cusick with a single to right field before Pellegrini's two run blast. The homer was the left fielder's 17th of the year.

Both starting pitchers performed well, but neither fared in the decision. Suns' starter Tom Milone went six scoreless innings in his debut for Hagerstown. Righty Leandro Cespedes worked six innings as well and only gave up one unearned run.

That run came in the bottom of the third inning for Hagerstown. Designated hitter Jake Rogers led the inning off with a single and moved to second on a passed ball. After two strike outs from Cespedes, shortstop Jose Lozada ripped a double to left-center to score Rogers.

Reliever Mike Koons (1-4) took the win for Lexington, while Jamie Lehman (1-2) was saddled with the loss. Fernando Abad worked the final inning and a third to pick up his second save of the year.

The Suns and Legends will play an early game tomorrow at Municipal Stadium as first pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.
