
Long Island Sweeps Cleveland in Double Overtime Win

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Cleveland Charge 118-113 in a double overtime win on Friday night at Nassau Coliseum.
Nets forward Craig Randall II notched a game-high 34 points, five rebounds and six assists in 46 minutes. Long Island forward Tyrone Wallace recorded an NBA G League season-high 30 points, four rebounds and three assists, while shooting 11-of-15 from the field and 3-of-5 from distance in 35 minutes off the bench. Brooklyn two-way guard David Duke Jr. added 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists in 31 minutes.
In the first quarter, Long Island set the pace against Cleveland going on a 17-10 run in the opening eight minutes. The Nets carried their strong offensive play into the second quarter, leading by six, 29-23. The battle continued into the second with both teams trading shots early on, and Cleveland was able to even the score 46-46 with 3:34 left to play just before the break. The Nets snuck past the Charge to head into the half ahead by two, 54-52.
Cleveland sought redemption in the third quarter, continuing its back-and-forth play with Long Island. Despite Cleveland's persistent effort, the Nets maintained their lead into the final quarter of play ahead by three, 89-86. The two teams stayed close in the final quarter, tying the match 110-110 and taking the match into overtime. Cleveland fought hard during the extra minutes, but a late foul by the Charge gave the Nets an advantage to push the game into double overtime, 112-112. The battle-tested Nets went on a 6-1 run to secure the win and overcome the Charge, 118-113. Tonight's match was the first time Long Island has defeated a team in double overtime at home in franchise history.
Charge guards Justin James and RJ Nembhard Jr. tallied 25 points each. James also added five rebounds and one assist in 37 minutes, while Nembhard Jr. recorded six rebounds and eight assists in 41 minutes. Cavaliers two-way center Tacko Fall notched a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes.
The Nets will play their next game on the road against Motor City on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. ET, while the Charge will return home to face Raptors 905 on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. ET.
