LONG ISLAND NETS DEFEAT CAPITAL CITY AT BARCLAYS CENTER EDUCATION DAY GAME

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (11-18), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, topped the Capital City Go-Go (14-16) 113-97 today at Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets, in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Dzanan Musa, while on assignment with Long Island, led the way for the Nets, finishing the contest with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field while adding eight rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in 23 minutes of action. Long Island guard Devin Cannady provided clutch scoring off the bench for the Nets, finishing the game with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range to go with three rebounds, two assists and two blocks in just 19 minutes of play.

Capital City forward Jalen Jones had a strong performance for the Go-Go, recording a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes. Capital City guard London Perrantes also had a solid game, finishing with 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field while adding two rebounds, five assists and four steals in 33 minutes of action.

The two teams got off to a back-and-forth start to the game with Capital City owning a 20-16 lead with 3:35 left to play in the first. Capital City would go on to maintain its lead, heading into the second quarter up 27-23.

The neck-and-neck play continued into the second quarter, with Long Island narrowing the lead to one point with 7:02 left to play. A late 8-0 run gave Capital City the momentum and the Go-Go closed out the first half ahead 60-51.

Long Island came out looking to battle its way back into the game, evening the score at 64-64 with 7:03 left to play. With 1:45 remaining in the third, Long Island took its first lead since the opening minutes off a Devin Cannady 3-point shot, putting the Nets ahead 78-75. The Nets would go on to outscore Capital City 32-19 in the quarter, taking an 83-79 lead into the fourth.

Long Island came out on fire to start the fourth, outscoring the Go-Go 14-2 over the quarter's opening 4:27 of play. The hot start to the quarter propelled the Nets to a 113-97 victory in a contest in which they outscored the Go-Go 62-37 in the second half.

The Nets will travel to Westchester to take on the Knicks next on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 5 p.m. ET, while the Go-Go will travel to Lakeland to take on the Magic next on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. ET.
