Long Island Gives College Park First Win of the Season at Nassau Coliseum

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (2-7), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, suffered a 117-98 loss to the College Park Skyhawks (1-8) tonight at Nassau Coliseum.

While on assignment with Long Island, Brooklyn center Day'Ron Sharpe led the team with his third double-double of the NBA G League season, 27 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting 11-of-19 from the field in 26 minutes. Long Island guard Bryce Brown earned 21 points and seven rebounds while shooting 6-of-8 from the 3-point line in 26 minutes.

In the first quarter, College Park set the pace against Long Island, going point-for-point until the Skyhawks went on an 8-2 run in the last three minutes of play. The Skyhawks outscored the Nets to close the first quarter, 31-24. Long Island fought hard to close the gap during the second quarter, but the Skyhawks' offense proved to be too much for the Nets. College Park went into the half up by 14, 59-45.

Long Island continued its efforts into the second half, responding to College Park. The two teams battled until the end of the third with Long Island leading the quarter, 33-25. In the final 12 minutes, College Park pulled away from the Nets to earn its first win of the season, 117-98.

Atlanta two-way guard Sharife Cooper led the way for the Skyhawks, earning 33 points, three rebounds, and shooting 10-of-17 from the field in 34 minutes. While on assignment with College Park, Atlanta forward Jalen Johnson earned 23 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in 39 minutes.

The Nets play their next game against the College Park Skyhawks on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. ET at Nassau Coliseum.
